New Year's Eve Nails and THE Nails Inc Diary

It was love at first sight back in October when I locked eyes on this lovely. I bought one for my sister, showed it round the office, then everyone in the office wanted one... before I know it I was dealing Nails Inc and forgot to keep a cut for myself. Thank god Santa brought me one. The Nails Inc Diary contains 12 full size nail polishes featuring bestsellers, new trend shades and never seen before special effects.

January – bestselling Kensington Caviar 45 second top coat
February – St Martin’s Lane new glossy grape trend polish
March – bestselling Baker Street cobalt blue polish
April – Sloane Avenue new neon coral polish
May – Fulham Palace Gardens new rainbow Sprinkles polish
June – Chester Feather effect polish
July – Notting Hill Gate neon pink polish
August – Fleet Street new Leather effect polish
September – Electric Lane Holographic top coat
October – Belgravia Place red Fibre Optic polish
November – South Kensington silver Foil effect polish
December – Knightsbridge Road new Galaxy polish

Other than Baker Street, which is probably my all time favourite so having an second is only a bonus, I don’t already own any of these shades. I love the look of Sloane Avenue (Miss April) and Belgravia Place (Miss October) and for NYE I had to dive straight in with Miss December….

Knightsbridge Road is a stunning gold glitter polish with multi coloured flecks and 3D glitter finish. It knocks the socks of any other glitter polish I’ve tried! It’s fully opaque in just two coats and with a slick of the Caviar top coat (Miss Jan) it doesn’t feel chunky or rough! Perfect nails for partying the night away (or falling asleep on the sofa).

If you fancy fabulous nails every month of the year there’s still a few of these kicking around. It’s sold out most places (of course) but I’ve found stock at Nails Inc £30 here and ASOS £31.50 here, which is staggering value considering it contains £132 worth of Nails Inc.

Which do you have you eye on?

The Rise and RISE of Bold Lips... and my Top 5

Isn’t it crazy how bold lips are everywhere these days? Look back through your beauty archives, I bet there weren’t many bold lippies kicking around in your makeup bag five years ago? When I think back to my college/uni days it was all about the gloss (Juicy tubes anyone?) and later, the nude lip. I’d never have dared rock a red and noir hues were restricted solely to Halloween. But now bold lips are a daily norm... especially among the young uns' (Kylie Jenner, Miley Cyrus et al).
Myself, I’m a little more conservative. I’m embracing the trend but can’t see me pushing a trolley round Tesco wearing RiRi Woo anytime soon... but you never know! I’m still a nude girl at heart, but there’s no underestimating the power of a bold lip! A slick of berry or some bright-ass fushia can give an instant injection of sass and attitude.
My current top picks are....

MAC Impassioned - Described as an Amped-up fuchsia, Impassioned is special. It’s loud, but without being too in your face. If reds and berry aren't your think, try fushia. Pics and review here.
MAC RiRi Woo - MAC's iconic Ruby Woo with a little RiRi twist. Reds have a tendency to wash me out but not this one. Sexy, cool and very matte. Pics and full review here.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Stain Crush Beguin - a gorgeous deep berry. If bold lipsticks scare you, start with something sheer like this. The colour is buildable and the formula keeps lips soft and sexy.

Wet n Wild Dark Wine - a darkened reddy plummy colour that doesn't wash me out - yeh!
MAC Rebel is a gorgeous berry shade. It looks very purple in the bullet, almost mulberry but once applied is more of a pinky/plumy/purple kinda shade. A perfect autumn/winter update if you fancy channeling your dark side. Review here.

Do you love the bold lip trend? What are you favourite shades?

You need to know about... The Wet Brush

“Tangles? What tangles?” she says smugly!
Yes, the Wet Brush looks like an ordinary hairbrush. When I received it I thought, bless, you’ve got no chance against my tattered tresses, but my was I wrong! So much so I’m throwing out the Tangle Teezer. This is the game changer!
The magic of the Wet Brush™ is in the specially formulated IntelliFlex™ bristles. IntelliFlex™ bristles are thin, strong and very flexible. They have intelligent flexibility - flexible on one stroke and firm on the next, eliminating all tugging, tearing, pulling and ripping. No split ends, no hair loss.
The Wet Brush quickly and painlessly detangles wet or dry hair. The bristles are soft (much softer than the likes of Tangle Teezer) yet strong and very flexible with gentle polytips on the ends for comfort and massaging. It’s larger and much more substantial, tackling the whole head in record time... no need to tease out tangles here, it’s more like brush and go! Plus the soft cushion means you can press down without scratching your scalp.

Now for me the handle is priceless! I’ve moaned in the past that I’m tired of dropping the TT. Not only does the Wet Brush have a handle, but it’s a rubberised, non slip handle that stays firmly in place. It’s also much more child friendly too. Oh and did I mention is comes in a rainbow of colours?

I’ve had mine for two weeks now and already have my boyfriend and sister fighting over it. P.S. I found your dark hairs, I know you’ve been sneaking a go!
The US’s number 1 selling detangling brush is available in the UK now £6.95 from sallyexpress here.

What’s inside the box? Glossybox UK December 2014

I really look forward to December’s Glossybox. Whilst you can’t guarantee you’ll love what’s in the box, you can guarantee you’ll love the box.  This year’s is no exception – a cute red box with a Christmas tree on the outside and candy canes inside. Inside the festive treasures box we have....
Bee Nature Soap 5.50euros for 100g
Bee Nature soap is all natural with a base of honey and poppy seeds. So, soap? Not something I can get excited about and hardly fits with the festive theme. One to regift to my Mum I think.
Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Mascara Full Size £4.99/7.6ml
Now this is more like it. I love this stuff! It works perfectly to sculpt and hold brows in place, whist adding a little colour. I would have been even more thrilled had I not already purchased it, but now I have one for home and one for my handbag.
Seche Nail Lacquer Full Size £9.95/14ml
I received Seche Nail polishes in previous glossyboxes and been impressed by their pigmentation and glossiness. Scorchin’ Hot is a gorgeous spicy orangy red colour which I look forward to using over the festive period.
Beautiful Movements Cosmetics nude lip gloss Full Size £12/8ml
I’ve never heard of this brand? But this colour is right up my street.
Wilkinson Sword Intuition Naturals Razor Full Size £6.49
I certainly wasn’t expecting to see a razor in my Christmas box but I’m sure it will come in handy getting my pins party ready.
When it comes to beauty boxes, variety is important and December’s box certainly delivers. It’s nice to have lots of makeup pieces too instead of perfume vials and skincare samples. I’ll be popping this festive box straight under my tree. Find out more about Glossybox here.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Cream Eyeshadow in Metallic Pomegranate

My love affair with Maybelline’s color tattoo’s continues. It started with Barely Branded (from my US swap with Yessie), deepened with On and On bronze (review here) and continues with Metallic Pomegranate.
In case you haven’t gone there yet Maybelline Color Tattoos are a solid cream/gel eyeshadows. The consistency is creamy and smooth and melts on contact with the skin – think MAC paint pots but heaps cheaper. Quick and versatile they can be used alone as shadow, a base or a gel liner.
Metallic Pomegranate (or Pomegranate Punk if you’re in the US) is a pinky/burgundy with a hint of gold shimmer running through it. It works wonders with my hazel eye colour – really helps the green pop! It has a good colour payoff and a beautiful frosty/metallic finish. Wear time is phenomenal – no budging, creasing, fading or smudging... ten hours and counting.

They give an instant and gorgeous slick of colour. I use my index finger to work it from my lash line up to the crease, smudging out with a clean finger or brush. They dry pretty quickly so you have to work them in sharply and once they’re on, they stay on. I wore Metallic Pomegranate as a base colour at the weekend and build up some golden hues on top, it added a gorgeous multi-tonal dimension with some sexy shimmer. I really do love these little pots.

Lush Tea Tree Toner Water... New Skincare Hero

I’m blaming Beth at Birds Words for my latest obsession... Lush Tea Tree Toner Water. Sounds a bit gimmicky and unnecessary but it’s a real skincare revelation. Let me explain...
We all know that Tea tree is a real wonder oil – antibacterial, antiseptic and antimicrobial. It combats spots, heals skin, minimises pores.... the lot! Sadly in its purest form it can also be a little over powering and drying on the skin (for reference I have dry/combination skin). Lush’s toner waters are like aromatherapy in dilution. I use it after cleansing to gently tone the skin. Spritzing 2-3 pumps on a cotton pad before sweeping across the face, concentrating on the T-zone. Refreshing and delicately scented, you can also spritz it directly onto the face – it’s a fabulous morning pick me up, or whenever you experience a dreaded skin emergency. It also contains grapefruit and juniper water to keep oily skins under control.
I’ve been using this for a month now and can honestly say my skin feels more balanced, my pores are squeaky clean and breakouts have been few and far between.
Lush Tea Tree Toner Water £7.50/250g and £3.95/100g here Oh and whilst you're there I'd recommend stocking up on snow fairy! See my Christmas Gift guide here.

Sometimes you gotta fake it to make it. I’m currently loving Xen-Tan Morroccon Oil self tan (review here) but if you need an instant, fix Trilogy instant bronzing gel gives an instant, natural, shimmering tan.
Elle Macpherson for HoMedics Instant Nail Wraps £5.99
The ultimate two minute nail makeover. These funky nail wraps come in gold, silver and pink and the best bit... with zero drying time.
Collection Does it all Mascara £4.99 here
I love this mascara with its enhanced multi-bristle brush and five way formula; curling, volumizing, lengthening, long-wearing and conditioning- this mascara really does it all!
Steamcream £12.95 Feel Unique here
You know I love me some Steamcream (full review here) It really is the moisturiser to take you through the night!
Pantene Volume and Body Hairspray £3.69 Superdrug here
My haircare regime is pretty laid back. Wash, blow, spray, go! “Spray” being the important part. I can’t leave the house without lashings of  the  stuff. I used to use this one years ago and I’d forgotton how much I love it. It holds really well but isn’t crispy like Treseme Freeze Hold and isn’t too light an invisible like Elnet (Shock horror I hate Elnet).
LASH False Lashes £4.19 here
I don’t wear lashes. My natural ones aint bad and I’m rubbish at applying them. But December’s the time of year I’m most likely to give it a go and these ones look pretty flutterful!

See anything you like? What's your beauty must have for the party season?

Holy Grail Moisturiser.... SteamCream

I know I’m a sucker for funky packaging, but I’m no fool – the product’s still got to pack a punch, and this one really does! SteamCream is my go-to when my skin’s tired, dull and dry, which winter is all the time!
The technical stuff...
STEAMCREAM is a multipurpose moisturiser made with unrefined steam that can be used on face, body and hands. The use of steam in its production makes Steamcream break down as soon as it touches your skin, providing an intensive moisturising experience. Steamcream’s light, gentle and loosely bound emulsion allows each ingredient to break back down to its purest form and reach where it’s needed fast. Made from the finest organic ingredients including orange flower water, healing lavender oil and soothing oatmeal and, now this is the exciting part, comes in a range of gorgeous little aluminium tins with cute designs including the lady bug, leopard print, stars and stripes and an array of festive prints.

I can honestly say this product really does what it says on the tin. The first thing I noticed, other than the cool packaging, is the scent. It has a distinctive aromatherapy oil smell that’s very relaxing. It's light to touch. It sinks into the skin like a lotion but  behaves like an intensive moisturiser. It's not greasy, but it is rich and leaves my skin soft, plumped and glowing. I've found a little on a morning applied to my dry patches works well under make up. I also add a little extra on my high points where I want that extra glow. In the evening I like to message a more generous amount into my face and neck. I've been using Clinique's DDM for years, which still has a place in my routine, but when I need a little more TLC, Steamcream’s where I go!
Steamcream £12.95/75g stockists include ASOS here, Selfridges here and Feel Unique here.
