If you want an OLIVE tan, try this! Xen-Tan Moroccan Tan with Argan Oil

Many tans claim to give an olive glow, this one really DOES! I wouldn’t call myself a self tan devotee, but when it gets to this time of year – the summer glow has faded and Christmas party season is upon us -  I do need a little sumthin’ sumthin’ to “fake it to make it”. Until now Famous Dave's (got to love that name) has been my go-to. But Xen-Tan’s earned its stripes in the tanning world and when I saw it was enriched with Argan Oil,  the deal was done.
The products itself is really dark brown – think tar! Fear not, you won’t end up that colour and the dark hue means you can see exactly where you’re putting it. It’s labelled “medium” but that’s based on the American colour scale, which is darker than ours. I’d say it’s more of a medium to dark tan. The silky and lightweight texture glides on smoothly and instantly moisturisers and the Argan gives it an added richness. On this occasion I applied with my bare hands (cheesy wotsit hands). In future I’ll use a mitt. The tropical coconut scent makes a nice change, but as the colour develops, the dreaded fake tan/biscuit smell does set in, but only faintly.
The colour is dark and instant. It dries quickly, so if you want to slap it on and head out, you can and it doesn't sink into your pores or look patched - added bonus! The colour will gradually develop into a deep golden olive tan. Personally I prefer to give it a few hours to develop before washing off the excess. That way you can check your shade before you go out in public and wash away the smell. I applied one coat to my arms. I already had a bit of colour from my last holiday so I wasn’t expecting anything dramatic. Instead I got a natural, even, all over tan that’s more olive than orange! It definitely lifted my current shade a couple of notches. The tan lasts for around 4-5 days. I’ve got the first of my Christmas parties next week and can’t wait to do a second application.

New Arm Candy... Olivia Burton Big Dial Rose Gold Watch

I’ve been look for a watch that’s less chunky and more wearable than my beloved Michael Kors Rose Gold Bracelet watch. After almost daily wear for the last few years it’s looking a bit tarnished and in need of a break. Enter Olivia Burton. When they couldn’t find a watch that fulfilled their need for style, Olivia Burton created their own stunning collection of elegant and affordable watches, inspired by vintage styles and catwalk trends. As soon as I saw the collection online, I knew I'd succumb. The only problem was... which one?
Eventually I chose the Big Dial Rose Gold Plated Watch £72 here with a large white face, rose gold case and soft mink leather strap. It’s a real statement watch!! I love the pairing of the rose gold with a grained mink leather strap - it creates a very understated and very chic look.  Small details like the embossed Olivia Burton logo on the inside of the strap and the little bird motif on the back of the face make it feel reassuringly good quality. The case is 38x38mm, it’s large but not in an “in your face” kinda way. I love the colour of the strap. I’d describe the “mink” as an off white/creamy colour. It’s really flattering against my skin tone (although I still had a holiday tan in these pics). It’s very light weight (so, so much lighter than Michael Kors) and the soft leather strap is very comfortable to wear.
There’s lots of Olivia Burton stockists out there but I choose The Dressing Room, taking advantage of their 10% off for new customers (when you sign up to the newsletter). Kudos to them for their snazzy packaging and promt delivery!

Let’s Get Naked... Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick

When I did the “Inside my MAC lipstick collection” post, one thing was clear, I had too many nude lipsticks. I said to myself no more nudes! I went looking for an autumnal plum but somehow came back with this!!!
Rimmel recently re-launched their Moisture Renew Lipstick – new formula, new packaging and ten new shades – I had to get in on the action. I must have swatched and tried every shade in the range but this suited me this most! What’s a girl to do!
Let’s Get Naked is a neautral peachy/pinky/nude. It’s not a super  pale nude, which is usually my thing, it’s more of a “my lips but better” kinda nude. The colour pigmentation is really strong and the new formula is super rich and glossy.  Formulated with three superpower moisturisers – polypeptides, hyaluronic acid and natural collagen that deeply hydrate lips and improves their condition instantly and over time, it’s no wonder they glide on soft and stay creamy. Wear time around 2-3 hours.

Swatch in daylight
With flash, it's a little darker in reality

Love it, Share it! ASOS Vintage Style Faux Fur Coat

I’ve wanted a true vintage fur coat for ages!!! I’ve trawled the charity shops, vintage fairs, eBay and granny’s closet but I haven’t found one that's right for me. Instead I’ve gone faux vintage, which is actually quite good because, a, it fits and b, doesn’t smell of dead people!
ASOS Vintage Style Faux Fur Coat £65 here with metal clip fastening, 7/8th sleeves, deep pockets and super soft faux fur. It arrived just in time for my weekend in Birmingham and was my saviour wandering around the amazing German markets on a very frosty Saturday night. I’ve never known anything so warm and cosy.... that still looks stylish! And despite being brand spanking new, it still has an air of vintage chic. It's such a versatile and wearable item, whether casual with jeans and tshirt (below) or glammed up with a little black dress.

Glossybox November 2013... Back to its Best!

Now this is more like it. This is the Glossybox I’ve known and loved. After a disastrous October edition (review here), Glossybox have pulled their socks up to bring a fabulous November box. This month’s box is packed with winter beauty essentials to keep skin hydrated and soft as the days draw colder and with party season coming up, there's some make up bag must haves....
Vichy Idealia Life Serum 2x3mls & Smoothing and Illuminating Cream 3mls Worth £7
I've got big love for Vichy and can't get enough of serums so this little set floats my boat. An all-round skin saviour!

Emite Make Up Micronized Eyeshadow - Dames Full Size 1.48g/£16.80
Emite Make Up, that's a new one on me? But first swatch reveals a soft, buttery, shimmery shadow. Dames is an off white shimmery highlighter, great for the brow bone.

Yves Rocher Hand Cream Cacao & Orange Full Size £1.95/75ml
You can never have too many hand creams this time of year and this one smells like Terry's chocolate orange! Enough said.

Elegant Touch Nail Polish Remover Pads Full Size £2/20 pads
These do come in handy plus they're acetone free and packed with Vitamin C! Available from New Look, Boots & Superdrug.

Gosh Cosmetics Velvet Touch Lipstick in Sundown Full Size £6.49
When I saw this colour I winced a little and thought "tango'd"! But it's actually more of a peachy/copper/bronzy shade, not half as scary as it looks.

I love this month's box, well done Glossy! Find out more about Glossybox's subscriptions and one off boxes here.

HD Brow Professional Eye & Brow Palette... Your Complete Brow Wardrobe

It’s all about the brows! That was my mantra long before Miss Delevinge burst on the scene (don’t believe me? Remember this). The HD Brow palette has been my single most loved/used/can’t-live-without product of the last two years and counting. It’s revolutionised my brows! Understandably I nearly burst with excitement when I discovered HD Brows had launched a “pro” brow palette with a whopping 6 shades.
The HD Professional Eye & Brow Palette (£29.95 here) contains 6 shadows from their best selling brow palettes ranging from Ash Blonde to Carbon.

Super pigmented, naturally matte, fantastically smudge-proof and seriously long lasting, it’s the quality of the powders that set HD Brows aside. Whether I need a subtle infill or a strong defined brow, there's nothing more effective. The 3D powders look so natural, so real and with the new Pro Palette you can customise your shade depending on your mood/colouring/time of year (FYI Medium and dark brown work best for me). All shades make fantastic eyeshadows too, I especially love Ash Blonde and Warm Brown for creating contours and shadows around the eye and Carbon, obviously, makes a great eye liner. Each shadow is a generous 4.75 g (for reference a standard MAC eyeshadow is 1.3 g) which means it will probably last forever. I’ve had the smaller 4 shade palette for over two years now and despite using it daily, I’ve only recently “hit pan” on two shades.

Original HD Brow Palette V The "Pro"

Now, the brush is AH-MA-ZING!!!! I HAD this brush with my first HD palette but sadly lost it in a hotel in Manchester earlier this year and I’ve been lost without it. I bought the MAC 266 as a replacement but couldn’t achieve the same results. The HD Brow brush is very slim and slide into the my bald patches perfectly, always depositing the right amount of product and never leaving harsh lines. The smudger on the other end is really handy too. I’m so glad I have a replacement, I’m never going to let it out of my sight.

Find out more about HD Brows here. It’s all the eyebrow you’ll ever need!

Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate... My new never-want-to-be-without!

Oh my word this stuff is off the scale amazing! I’ve never smelt anything so divine. I need smell-o-vision to share how good it is! When I tested it at my friend’s house a couple of weeks ago I knew it was destined to become a future obsession.
Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate is an aromatic blend of 100% pure plant oils including argan, rosehip, neroli, lavender and chamomile. It instantly hydrates, soothes, relaxes and plumps the skin. I use it in the evening after cleansing and toning. Working the handy roller ball directly onto my face then massage the oil into the skin, it’s like a mini aromatherapy facial and deeply relaxing. In fact I look forward to using it so much I can’t wait to get my makeup off and slap it on. It’s thick and rich but not at all greasy. It’s also a real skincare SOS – dry patches, sore noses, flaky skin... it’s got them covered. I’ve been using this for two weeks and I’ve already noticed my skin is more hydrated and at this time of year that’s saying something!
Liz Earle’s Superskin range is on the expensive side. This 10ml roller ball costs a hefty £20 but it’s truly rich and a little goes a long way. You can pick up a 2ml vial/£6 to test it out and if you really love it there’s a 28ml pump bottle/£40.50. Available from Liz Earle online here, John Lewis here and selected Boots stores.
Anyone else got love for this?

Move over Tangle Teezer, it's all about the Denman Be-Bop

It may just be time to retire my trusted Tangle Teezer. Respect to the TT for taming my fine, tangled tresser for the past few years, you really were a saviour! When I think of all those painful years dragging through a fine tooth comb ... ouch! BUT I’m tired of dropping it – I seem to drag it through my hair and chuck it on the floor in one fell swoop and it takes a good while to “tease” out all those tatters. Step forward the Denman Bebop Massage Shampoo Brush.
Now don’t be mislead by the name. You can use it in the shower, you can massage your scalp whilst shampooing, but you don’t have to! You can just use it as a good old detangler. It has less bristles than the TT and they’re spaced wider apart which helps it glide through my locks with ease. There’s less dragging and pulling and the handle makes it sooooo much easier to use. The bristles are firm but gentle at the same time and get the job done in a fraction of the time. I’ve been using mine fresh out the shower before blow drying. I did try the massage technique in the bath, it was nice, and it’s good to stimulate the scalp every now and then, but massaging with this whilst shampooing results in more tangles so I’ll avoid it. And did I mention it was purse friendly  - at £2.75 it’s a mere fraction of its rival! Although it may not be for everyone. It can't tackle really small tangles and if you have very thick or wiry hair, it may not be substantial enough, but for my fine tressers it’s near perfect!

Free Nails Inc with Glamour Magazine... and they're seriously HOT shades

This is a magazine freebie too good not to share. Nails inc frequently hook up with Glamour to treat us to a free polish but this time round they’ve added designer Kate Spade to the mix to bring us four fabulous and sexy shades.
New York Noir - a true and glossy black
Big Apple Red - a very glossy red
Uptown Glamour - metallic gold
Soho Silver - metallic silver
I was super excited to see the black, I’m loving dark nails right now, and this one is very glossy. The metallic gold is a gorgeous party shade and the red, well I'm currently wrestling with the lid... if I ever get it off I'll share a swatch. The only one I didn’t get was Soho Silver... silver doesn’t really suit me.

December’s Glamour magazine with Katy Perry on the cover is out now £2. Got your copy yet?

Nails Inc. St Martin's Lane... Perfect Autumnal Nails

Check out my nails, phresh out of rehab! They’ve been enjoying some much needed R&R, lashings of Renunail (review here) and nail polish rest. Finally they’re stronger, longer and better than before and ready rock Autumn’s hues. Pastels have gone and it’s time to dust off your darks.
First in my autumnal nail wardrobe is Nails Inc. St Martin's Lane, a new glossy grape shade. It’s a gorgeous plumy/purple kinda shade with a pink undertone. Less red wine and more mulberry. In terms of a comparison, it's a darker version of Holland Park Road. It almost reminds me of MAC Rebel lipstick, so if you fancy matching up, it would be a great combo. The formula is fairly opaque, two coats was enough and it dries to a beautiful and ultra glossy finish. In fact, it’s almost gel like. In terms of wear time, I've only been testing it for two days (eager to share) but so far, so good.

Check out Nails Inc. Autumn Winter Collection here. What shades you rocking this A/W?
