Whilst I don’t imagine rocking rouge noir, I did fancy something berrylicious. Rebel is a gorgeous berry shade. It looks very purple in the bullet, almost mulberry but once applied is more of a pinky/purple/plum... It’s hard to describe and having researched it on the internet first, I found it tends to look different on different lips! A lot of people, myself included, struggle with dark lipsticks because they have the tendency to wash you out, especially those with red undertones. Because Rebel has a high pink content, I actually find it warms my face up a little. It was also easy to pair up with blush and eye colour.
This is a satin finish lipstick from MAC, meaning it’s not creamy or matte, it’s somewhere in the middle. I’d describe Rebel as a semi-matte, long-wear, full pigment lipstick. I wouldn't say it's overly drying and when you apply it, it feels soft and silky, but it does eventually set and dry a little. You might want some lipbalm handy. It’s not as dry as matte but not as creamy as amplified creme or cremesheen, which I tend to go for. The best thing about this lippy, it lasts for hours! I tried it on at the MAC counter, went shopping for 4 hours, ate a wrap, drank some juice and it was still intact!

Rebel is a great pick if you want to channel the vampy trend without looking like a goth. If you dare to go darker, check out Revlon Black Cherry and 17 New Black.
I always stop and admire this lipstick at the MAC counter, but I assumed it would look ridiculous on me. You, however, make it look so wearable, I might actually try it on next time. This looks so nice on you!

Oh interesting that it looks quite pinky on you!! I was planning to get Rebel using Back2MAC! But I like this on you! You're right - dark colours tend to wash us out, but this looks great on you!
ReplyDeleteAnd so good to hear that it's semi-matte. Matte lipsticks are way too drying, and glossy dark lips just don't look right. So it's perfect to have an in-between formula.
Thanks for sharing! xx
